Job Title: Survey Crew Chief

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Survey Crew Chief for a long-term position. The ideal candidate will perform construction layouts, as-built surveys, topographic surveys, and boundary surveys during an initial nine-month contract period. Upon permanent employment, the individual will also conduct ALTA surveys. This role involves working both in a two-person crew and occasionally as a solo crew member. You will utilize advanced Trimble equipment, including GPS base and rover units, VRS networks, robotic total stations, digital levels, TSC7 data collectors, and TBC processing software.

Responsibilities

• Conduct construction layouts, as-built surveys, topographic surveys, and boundary surveys.
• Perform ALTA surveys once permanently employed.
• Operate Trimble equipment and software for survey tasks.
• Work in a two-person crew and independently as required.
• Travel to job sites within Central Indiana, with minimal overnight stays.
• Ensure precise and accurate data collection and processing.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience as a Survey Crew Chief.
• Experience in construction layout surveys is required.
• Proficiency in handling total stations, GPS, and land survey software.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys is preferred.
• Must have a clean driving record.

Work Environment

The role involves working primarily outdoors on survey projects. You will travel directly from your home to job sites, providing significant autonomy. Occasional office visits are required for meetings with project managers and team members. Work hours typically begin around 7:30 AM, with earlier starts possible during summer. Current Crew Chiefs average 40-45 hours per week. There is no need for daily office visits unless you have less than two years of experience. Our projects are concentrated in Central Indiana, allowing you to be home every night with minimal overnight travel.
