Job Title: Construction Project Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Project Engineer to assist Project Managers in the successful execution of construction projects. This office-based role emphasizes financial and administrative aspects of project management. The projects include water treatment facilities and industrial developments with pre-engineered metal buildings across the U.S. In Central Indiana, the portfolio covers K-12 schools, car washes, parks and recreation facilities, National Guard projects, and renovations or additions to company headquarters. Some travel will be required.
Responsibilities
- Support Project Managers with financial tracking, budgeting, and forecasting for multiple projects.
- Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
- Assist in contract administration and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate procurement activities, including vendor communication and purchase order tracking.
- Generate and maintain project documentation, including cost reports and progress updates.
- Utilize project management and ERP software (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint, or similar) for documentation and reporting.
- Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
- Analyze project data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of 2 years of commercial construction experience, with 1 year of water/waste water or K-12 experience considered equivalent.
- 1 year of general contractor experience.
- 1 year of experience with construction software.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in water waste water projects.
- Experience with pre-engineered metal buildings.
- Institutional construction experience, including K-12 and water treatment facilities.
Work Environment
This position requires working five days per week in the office, with a typical workweek ranging from 40 to 45 hours. Travel over 60 miles will be reimbursed at $0.67 per mile. There is an opportunity for career growth, with potential to manage your own projects as an Assistant Project Manager.
