Job Description
We are currently seeking a dedicated Set Up Technician who will be trained on the 1st shift and then transition to a 2nd shift. This role involves on-the-job training for specific CNC machinery, including set ups, change overs, and minor troubleshooting on CNC mills and lathes. A mechanical aptitude is essential, as you will be the first line of defense when something goes wrong with the machines. You will learn to operate various CNC machinery within the facility and assist operators when needed. Your daily tasks will include running off machinery to ensure proper functioning and utilizing hand and power tools to complete your work.
Responsibilities
- Perform set ups and changeovers on CNC lathes and mills.
- Operate lathes and mills, with a focus on lathes.
- Read and interpret blueprints and part prints for setups and changeovers.
- Troubleshoot and replace components such as turrets on CNC machines.
- Adjust speeds, feeds, and ensure tolerances are met.
- Use hand and power tools effectively.
- Assist operators and provide hands-on support as needed.
- Ensure machinery is working correctly through run offs.
Essential Skills
- Experience in CNC lathe setup, with more focus on lathe than mill.
- Proficiency in setting up, replacing, and troubleshooting turrets.
- CNC changeover experience.
- Ability to read and interpret prints and part prints.
- Skilled in using hand and power tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in the medical device industry.
- Familiarity with using calipers, micrometers, and working around injection molders, CNC machinery, drills, or presses.
- Demonstrated ability to tinker or dismantle machinery.

Work Environment
This medium-sized manufacturing company specializes in automotive and agriculture parts, employing 50-60 people on-site. The facility is clean and continuously being upgraded. The position requires working on the second shift from 3 PM to 11:30 PM, after initial training on the first shift. While overtime is not common, it may be required occasionally. The company has a strict attendance policy. The dress code includes jeans, a shirt, close-toe shoes, and eye and ear protection. Candidates can wear one earbud while working, as long as they can hear others and the machines.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Haven, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr.
