Job Title: Production Line OperatorJob Description

As a Production Line Operator, you will lead the operations on a highly automated production line, responsible for loading raw material steel coils and dies into the machine, monitoring in-process quality and production flow, and ensuring a quality finished product. Your role involves operating the production equipment using the PLC/HMI touchscreen and performing solo quality checks with a tape measure. You will also be responsible for data entry in Excel to record quality results.

Responsibilities
  • Load the machine with raw material steel coils and dies using a forklift.
  • Monitor the production process and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Operate production equipment using the PLC/HMI touchscreen.
  • Conduct solo quality checks using a tape measure.
  • Enter quality check data into Excel spreadsheets.
  • Understand and manage the three elements of production runs: color, stamp shape, and width.
  • Troubleshoot basic issues within the Servo to set up the PLC and operate the machine.
  • Lead the production line during the 2nd shift and coordinate with laborers.
Essential Skills
  • Experience operating sit-down forklifts.
  • Proficiency in reading tape measures for quality measurements.
  • Ability to key enter values in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience operating machines in a manufacturing environment using PLC/HMI touchscreen.
  • Ability to stand on feet for 8-10 hour shifts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Mechanical skills for machine operation and setup.
  • Troubleshooting skills in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with high-speed packaging and manufacturing operations.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools.

Work Environment

You will be working in a mild manufacturing environment without air conditioning. The shift is 2nd - 3p-11pm, with training on 1st shift for 8-10 months. The facility has large fans to keep it as cool as possible during summer. Expect occasional Saturday work during the busy season from August to November. The dress code includes steel-toed boots, long pants or jeans, gloves, and eye protection, with some gear provided.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plainfield, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
