Fiber Technician

As a Fiber Technician, you will be responsible for splicing various types and sizes of fiber optic cable, including single-mode, multimode, stranded, and ribbon. You will analyze and troubleshoot basic technical issues and work with maps, drawings, blueprints, and testing documents. Daily tasks include performing tests, checks, and maintenance on splicing and testing equipment, conducting optical continuity and conformance testing, and making splicing rearrangements on existing facilities across different work locations.

• Splice various types and sizes of fiber optic cable, including single-mode, multimode, stranded, and ribbon.
• Analyze and troubleshoot basic technical issues.
• Review, interpret, and work with maps, drawings, blueprints, and testing documents.
• Perform daily tests, checks, and maintenance on splicing and testing equipment.
• Conduct optical continuity and conformance testing.
• Make splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in buried, underground, aerial, and building work locations.

• Experience in construction, assembly, splicing, wiring, cable, and electrical work.
• Proficiency in working with single mode, multimode, stranded, and ribbon fiber optic cables.
• Ability to use OTDR & Power Meter Testing equipment.
• Skill in reading blueprints and schematics.
• Experience with terminations and the use of hand tools.
• Background in telecommunications, fiber optic installation, and general labor.

• Construction Background in telecom, underground, and splicing.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Bend, IN.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $35.00/hr.
