Job Description
The Resident Project Representative plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of construction and rehabilitation projects related to municipal water distribution systems and wastewater collection systems. This position involves conducting on-site observations to monitor progress and quality of work in accordance with contract documents. Additionally, the role serves as the engineer's liaison with the contractor and requires maintaining adequate records, including a daily logbook and a set of drawings on which authorized changes are noted. Reviewing the contractor’s application for payment is also part of this role.
Responsibilities
- Remain on the job site for the entirety of the project's construction.
- Maintain detailed reports as required of the progress of the work and of the contractor's compliance with the progress schedule.
- Review progress schedules, shop drawings, sample submittals, schedules of values, and other submittals prepared by the contractor.
- Attend meetings with the contractor, such as preconstruction conferences, progress meetings, job conferences, and others.
- Comply with site safety programs.
- Assist the engineer in serving as the owner's liaison with the contractor and obtaining additional details or information as required.
- Review applications for payment with the contractor for compliance with the established procedure for submission.
- Forward recommendations to the assigned engineer.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Construction inspection experience on water and wastewater construction projects, including potable water line installation, sewer installation, pump station, lift station, and treatment plant construction projects.
- Ability to read civil construction plans and specifications.
- Excellent computer skills - proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
- Willingness and ability to travel to project sites and stay overnight for projects.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in construction inspection or RPR work for potable water line installation/construction, sanitary sewer line installation/construction, water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and lift stations.
- Knowledge of testing methods for water/sewer pipe installations, including pressure testing, air testing, hydrostatic testing, disinfection testing, vacuum testing, and mandrel testing.
Work Environment
This role requires frequent travel, often involving overnight stays in hotels, with projects located throughout the State of Indiana. Candidates must be comfortable with staying away from home and will be reimbursed for mileage. If the project site is over 90 minutes away, accommodations such as hotels or apartments will be provided. The position involves working standard construction hours (7 AM - 4 PM), with some overtime expected. Candidates should be prepared to work up to 50+ hours as needed. The work environment includes exposure to all weather conditions, and the role involves being out in the field. The team consists of 25-28 RPRs and is managed by dedicated managers.
