Construction Materials Technician
Job Description
The Field Technician operates under the guidance of the Quality Control Manager within the Operations department. This role involves performing and documenting quality control inspections of various precast concrete products. The technician evaluates pieces for dimensional accuracy, required tolerances, and aesthetic appearance, as well as interprets piece tickets and production drawings. The technician is also responsible for the daily shipping and receiving of finished products and raw materials.
Responsibilities
- Perform pre-pour inspections of all forms, reinforcement, steel, and inserts in a timely manner to maintain optimized workflow.
- Assist in finding ways to decrease delays and causes for rework.
- Maintain daily and project production records.
- Check and verify all dimensions of cast-in embeds.
- Complete daily Quality Control documentation.
- Inspect all finished products, document and follow-up on any precast products that require patching or rework.
- Ensure all precast products are correctly marked.
- Assist other Quality Control personnel in testing of materials and finished products as required.
- Maintain plant and yard safety in accordance with the Company Safety Manual and under the direction of the Safety Coordinator.
Essential Skills
- Experience with concrete, inspections, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in quality control and quality control documentation.
- Skill in shipping and receiving.
- 2+ years of construction experience.
- Attention to detail and accuracy when documenting information.
- High coordination and organization skills.
- Proficiency in reading a tape measure.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to complete ACI certification within the first 6 months of employment.
- Blueprint reading is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (rarely).
- Ability to be on your feet all day.
Work Environment
The position involves working for a leading manufacturer of quality concrete products. The workweek consists of 40-50 hours, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work. The role requires standing for extended periods and working in a dynamic environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, KS.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
