Maintenance Specialist
Pay Rate - $23/hr. - $25/hr.
Job Description
The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance tasks to support the upkeep, safety, and functionality of all campus facilities. This role combines hands-on repair work, preventative maintenance, and support for special projects to ensure that all spaces remain clean, safe, and ready for use.
Both roles pay $23-25/hr depending on experience and interview
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair minor lighting and electrical issues throughout campus facilities.
- Prepare and complete “make ready” spaces to ensure rooms and areas are ready for occupancy and events.
- Perform electronic recordkeeping related to preventative maintenance, repairs, and work orders using computerized systems.
- Repair and paint damaged drywall and interior walls to maintain a clean and professional appearance.
- Install and hang bulletin boards, shelving, and similar fixtures using appropriate tools such as squares, levels, and anchors.
- Move furniture and assist with room setups and reconfigurations to support campus operations and events.
- Assist with special projects as needed, including remodels, new construction tasks, and large-scale residential-style maintenance work.
- Identify, report, and help address safety concerns across campus facilities.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on building systems, fixtures, and equipment.
- Carry out general facilities and building maintenance duties, including basic plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, and painting tasks.
- Complete other facilities maintenance duties as assigned to support smooth and safe operations.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, on-site role in a campus facilities environment. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, with shifts typically from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The position requires flexibility to work a variable schedule to meet operational needs, which may include occasional evening and weekend hours. Work is primarily performed in and around campus buildings and grounds, involving regular use of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment. The role includes physical tasks such as moving furniture, working on ladders, and performing repairs in various indoor and outdoor areas. The environment is focused on safety, teamwork, and maintaining clean, functional, and well-prepared facilities for campus users.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, KS.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.73 - $25.00/hr.
