Job Description
As a Pharmacist, you will be responsible for entering medication orders into the computer system and dispensing medications accurately and timely. You will ensure the appropriate quantities based on drug stability, compatibility, and the age-specific needs of patients. You will verify all prescriptions not directly received from the physician or their agent, and assess patients at the initiation of drug therapy. Additionally, you will develop patient care plans and drug monitoring regimens, and monitor patients according to these plans throughout the course of therapy.
Responsibilities
- Enter medication orders into the computer system and dispense medications accurately.
- Verify prescriptions not directly received from the physician.
- Assess patients at the initiation of drug therapy and develop patient care plans.
- Communicate with physicians to suggest alternative or modified drug therapies.
- Coordinate with nursing staff to ensure cost-effective delivery methods.
- Input information into computerized software systems for accurate dispensing and billing.
- Oversee and check the accuracy of pharmacy technicians' work before releasing medications.
- Compound pharmaceuticals using aseptic techniques according to literature guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with FDA, DEA, State Board of Pharmacy, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.
- Participate in department meetings and maintain required licenses and competencies.
- Provide oversight of pharmaceutical care related to specialty products dispensed.
Essential Skills
- Pharmacy, PharmD, Bachelor in Science of Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
- Current and active KS Pharmacist License without any restrictions.
- 1+ years of Pharmacist experience.
- Proven verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal relationship skills, and problem-solving skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Acute Pharmacy Compounding experience preferred or a seasoned pharmacist wanting to gain compounding experience.
- Hospital experience preferred.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, with no on-call requirements. There is an opportunity for optional overtime, with start times at 6:30am or 7am during the week. The role is based in a closed-door pharmacy setting with a team of 55 people.
