Job Title: Assembly TechnicianJob Description

The Manufacturing Technician – Systems is responsible for assembling build-to-order large electrical cabinets inclusive of various components such as Orion products, relays, knife switches, voltage monitors, ethernet switches, power distribution units, and surge suppressors. These assemblies are intended for use by electric utilities. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with the drive and responsibility to work independently and has a passion for continuous learning and technology.

Responsibilities
  • Read and understand schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, and work orders to determine material requirements and assembly instructions.
  • Utilize power tools, hand tools, and soldering equipment to assemble cabinets.
  • Conceptualize end products and measure precisely to meet quality specifications.
  • Manufacture wires and cables, cut to length, ensure neatness, install identification tags, route in tubing or wire tray, install covers and connectors, and correctly terminate.
  • Participate in the preparation of material for shipping, including building wooden crates, packing material and equipment, installing tie downs for securing the load, and placing items on skids.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in electrical assembly and wiring.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and electrical prints.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of soldering.
  • Experience with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, wiring harnesses, and wiring schematics.
  • Experience in HVAC electrical and mechanical assembly.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 6+ months of relevant experience.
  • Electrical aptitude, including wiring, wire stripping, and reading electrical prints.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to stand for an 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to lift 40+ pounds regularly.
  • Effective with cable tie and cable management.

Work Environment

The role is based in a climate-controlled and organized manufacturing facility, which is the largest and most complex department within the facility. The work involves both seated and standing tasks, with the shift running from 7:00am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lenexa, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
