Our client would prefer prior manufacturing experience and a CPA. They also have a high preference for someone who has a blend of public accounting and industry experience. Job Description
The Corporate Controller will lead the accounting function to ensure accurate and timely accounting and financial reporting while implementing and maintaining effective internal controls. Reporting to the CFO, this role involves managing and developing a professional accounting staff and overseeing the annual audit and required reporting under credit agreements.
Responsibilities
- Manage and execute the Financial and Accounting functions including accounts payable/accounts receivable, cost accounting and variance analysis, accurate financial reporting, payroll administration, liability insurance, depreciation of capital assets, and tax regulation compliance.
- Create and maintain internal controls and related procedures.
- Ensure financial activities are compliant with legal and corporate requirements.
- Coordinate the budget process in line with company, divisional, and corporate objectives.
- Monitor company performance on EBIT, costs, and working capital development; influence corrective actions to meet targets.
- Analyze and set up financial justifications for capital expenditure requests.
- Function as a strategic, financial business partner to all functional groups’ employees.
- Provide leadership, development, and motivation to staff.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in accounting, month-end processes, audit, cost accounting, reconciliation, and general ledger management.
- CPA certification preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance.
- Foundation in public accounting is preferred.
- Manufacturing industry experience is highly preferred.
- Experience with complex organizations ($100-500 million revenue).
- Experience in financial integration/transformations
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Controller and Accounting Manager experience.
- Experience in leading a team and managing direct reports.
Work Environment
The position will start with 3-5 direct reports, with potential for growth. The office is spacious and located in Overland Park, offering flexible hybrid options.
