Job Title: Assembly TechnicianJob Description

Join our team as an Assembly Technician on the 2nd shift from 2pm to 12:30am, Monday through Thursday. This role requires overtime on Fridays, with occasional shifts on Saturdays. You will be responsible for assembling, modifying, and installing aircraft components, sub-assemblies, and structural assemblies to meet customer specifications. Your expertise in basic sheet metal, riveting, assembly methods, and common shop practices will be essential in identifying nonconforming parts and improving manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble components and sub-assemblies by interpreting blueprints, specifications, and work orders.
  • Ensure all assemblies meet quality requirements and complete required data gathering to facilitate assembly progress.
  • Set up and operate various shop equipment such as squeezes, drill motors, and countersink cutters.
  • Troubleshoot any problems that arise and propose process improvements.
  • Perform rework or modifications as needed during the assembly process.
  • Assemble major components of sub-assemblies and perform smaller bench work assemblies.
  • Move and obtain correct parts, materials, tools, and assemblies as necessary.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or GED, with one to two years of related experience or training.
  • Proficiency in interpreting blueprints and specifications.
  • Experience with complex assembly and structures mechanic.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing regarding work processes.
  • Time management skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Six months of vocational training preferred.
  • Familiarity with equipment such as forklifts, drill presses, floor-mounted rivet presses, and overhead cranes.
  • Five years of experience in complex assembly and structures.
  • Previous experience with Spirit, Boeing, Textron, or Cessna is preferred.

Work Environment

This role is based in a climate-controlled area, requiring the use of steel toe boots. The work environment is often loud and involves exposure to vibration, moving mechanical parts, and fumes. Employees will work full-time on the first shift, with reasonable accommodations provided for individuals with disabilities.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
