Job Title: Stress Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Stress Engineer to contribute to early conceptual designs by laying out structural load paths to meet high-level requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of first principles and be well-versed in both metallic and composite structures. This role involves executing trade studies to explore various design solutions, selecting the most weight-efficient concepts that fulfill the necessary requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Lay out structural load paths for early conceptual designs to meet high-level requirements.
  • Utilize first principle approaches with a solid understanding of metallics and composite structures.
  • Execute trade studies to explore various design solutions and select the most weight-efficient concepts.
  • Collaborate effectively in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment with design, fabrication, assembly, and other key functions.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in Catia, stress analysis, and structural analysis.
  • Experience with finite element analysis, including FEM and Femap.
  • Knowledge of damage tolerance and Boeing/Boeing tools.
  • Experience with static or damage tolerance analysis.
  • Familiarity with OEM tools and Catia V5 and up.
  • Expertise in primary structures and metallics, GFEM, DFEM, mechanical engineering, aerospace, and composites.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with conceptual design first principles analysis approaches for primary composite structures.
  • Understanding of various composite structures failure modes and limitations.
  • Ability to create, manage, and run GFEMs (Global Finite Element Models) for team use.
  • Experience in creating and executing DFEMs (Detail Finite Element Models).
  • Ability to create simple working FEMs for conceptual design work to validate design principles.
Work Environment

This is a long-term contract position, with a minimum duration of 18 months, supporting defense programs for an aerospace client. The role requires candidates to work onsite from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, at the client's facility.
