Job Title: Shipping and Receiving AssociateJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated Shipping and Receiving Associate to join our team for a shift opening. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure trucks are loaded overnight, preparing them for morning departures. The position involves operating various machinery such as forklifts, side loaders, or overhead cranes. Employees will read work orders, locate parts, and efficiently load them onto trucks.

Responsibilities
  • Complete basic, routine tasks with detailed instructions.
  • Move inventory or equipment, fill customer orders, pull materials from racks, and maintain warehouse upkeep.
  • Receive, place, or return items into stock inventory locations.
  • Pull and assemble orders by reviewing work/shipping orders or other documentation.
  • Tag materials for proper identification and complete all required documentation.
  • Move materials from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas using forklifts, side loaders, or cranes.
  • Operate yard trucks for loading and unloading trailers.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
  • Sort and place materials on racks, shelves, or bins according to predetermined sequences.
  • Conduct spot checks on inventory and complete daily and/or ad hoc checks for proper tagging of materials.
  • Report any irregularities to the supervisor for direction.
  • Restock materials as needed.
  • Occasionally drive motor vehicles (non-DOT trucks) for local deliveries and parts pick-ups.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Essential Skills
  • Experience with forklifts, shipping and receiving, material handling, and inventory control.
  • Ability to lift boxes, perform packaging, and load/unload trucks.
  • Experience with overhead crane operations.
  • Proficiency in reading and comprehending written instructions.
  • Basic measurement and arithmetic skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency and working knowledge of software applications.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 0-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High School diploma/GED preferred.
  • Warehousing and material handling experience preferred.
  • Ability to show manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on knowledge, experience, and judgment.
  • Ability to lift 100 pounds occasionally, 60 pounds repetitively, and push/pull 80 pounds of force.
  • Ability to stand for sustained periods and go up and down off truck trailers repeatedly.
  • Capability to work in temperatures exceeding 100°F and below 32°F.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors and co-workers.

Work Environment

Our non-climate controlled facility requires employees to wear jeans or work pants. Shorts, sweats, or leggings are not permitted. The environment is dynamic and fast-paced, demanding physical stamina and resilience in varying temperatures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $20.00/hr.
