Job Title: Quality Engineer

Job Description

This Quality Engineer position is customer-facing, focused on supporting and resolving quality issues that may arise. The role involves handling customer feedback regarding faulty parts or reported issues, communicating these issues to the team, and assisting in resolving them. The position includes tasks such as preparing Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation, coordinating containment and sorting activities, and writing detailed reports on analyses and corrective actions. Additionally, the role requires engaging in direct customer communication, both written and verbal, and may involve floor visits to troubleshoot and determine the cause of defects. The Quality Engineer will also lead weekly meetings with clients and internal teams.

Responsibilities

  • Address and resolve quality issues reported by customers.
  • Communicate quality issues to the team and assist in problem resolution.
  • Prepare and handle PPAP documentation and coordinate containment and sorting activities.
  • Write detailed reports on analysis and corrective actions.
  • Conduct direct communication with customers, both written and verbal.
  • Lead weekly meetings with clients and internal teams.
  • Visit production floor to troubleshoot and determine the cause of defects.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in quality engineering.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with corrective action plans.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis.
  • Excellent customer service skills with strong written and verbal communication.
  • Understanding of electronics.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints.
  • Experience in automotive quality is preferred.
  • Experience with OEM auto quality.
  • Experience with customer complaints and corrective actions.
  • General working knowledge of automotive or industrial manufacturing (AIAG, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, 8D).

Work Environment

This is a contract position with potential for long-term employment. The role involves working with electronic control units. The dress code includes khakis/work pants and polo shirts, with safety shoes required on the production floor. Shoe covers, smocks, and hairnets are also required for production floor areas. A company-provided laptop is included. Standard working hours are 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional overtime. The work environment is clean room manufacturing and climate-controlled.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Harrodsburg, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr.
