Job Title: Project Manager
Job Description
The Project Manager will play a pivotal role as a seller-doer, tasked with maintaining strong client relationships, developing project scopes and execution plans, monitoring and communicating project statuses, and leading multi-discipline teams to ensure successful completion of projects. This position requires frequent client interaction from the pre-positioning phase through project completion, necessitating strong verbal and written communication skills to interact regularly with internal staff such as project team members, marketing staff, and operations leadership. The ideal candidate will possess experience in utility-scale power generation and delivery infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project’s lifecycle, from development and initiation to close-out.
- Responsible for all aspects of complex small to medium projects or routine large projects.
- Produce and coordinate several small to medium projects concurrently.
- Establish and maintain client relations and participate in marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings.
- Contribute to and lead business development efforts to expand footprint in local market relationships.
- Conduct work sessions for deliverable development in collaboration with other staff and stakeholders.
- Coordinate staffing and workload throughout the project lifecycle to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Track financial aspects of projects, coordinating and adjusting work efforts with the team to ensure adherence to budget and schedule parameters.
- Collaborate with Accounting, Operational, and Business leadership for periodic project reviews.
- Implement QA/QC procedures.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Essential Skills
- 7+ years of engineering experience.
- 2+ years of project management experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering with PE License.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project software.
- Experience with power generation projects (thermal, combined cycle, natural gas), hydropower, or demolition.
- Strong skills in project coordination, client relationship management, and communication.
- Proven experience in project lifecycle, schedule management, budgeting, and scope management.
- PMP certification preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Utility-scale power generation project experience.
- Experience in thermal generation, hydropower, or demolition projects.
- Nice to have PMP certification.
Work Environment
The position offers a hybrid work schedule with the opportunity to work from offices in Lexington, Louisville, KY, or Brentwood, TN (downtown), Chattanooga, or Knoxville. Travel to project sites is necessary and depends on proximity, with local travel potentially occurring once a week and non-local travel once every 3-6 months. For individuals who have not yet built strong client relationships, more frequent travel may be beneficial to establish partnerships and credibility. The work environment comprises an engineering office in Lexington, Kentucky, hosting approximately 100 engineers across various disciplines, with a flexible schedule requiring less than 15 percent travel. Candidates must have a physical address in KY, TN, or AR.
