Job Description
The Service Technician installs, troubleshoots, and repairs industrial and commercial overhead doors and loading dock equipment. This role focuses on mechanical, electrical, and minor hydraulic and pneumatic systems while providing professional on-site service and interacting directly with customers. The position works a day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Responsibilities
- Install industrial and commercial overhead doors and loading dock equipment in customer facilities.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic dock equipment to restore safe and efficient operation.
- Perform minor electrical work on systems ranging from 110 volts up to 480 volts, including motor controls.
- Conduct mechanical repairs on forklifts as a small part of the overall responsibilities.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and basic fabrication techniques to complete installations and repairs.
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to diagnose issues and perform accurate installations.
- Perform field service and preventative maintenance on overhead doors, dock equipment, and related systems.
- Interact with customers on-site to understand equipment issues, explain findings, and communicate recommended solutions.
- Document work performed and communicate clearly with the office and customers as needed.
- Travel daily to customer locations and work both indoors and outdoors, often at docks and industrial facilities.
- Climb ladders, including heights up to approximately 40 feet, to access and service equipment.
- Lift and move heavy components, using lifters and hoists where available, and follow safe lifting practices.
- Ensure the assigned service truck remains clean, organized, and properly maintained according to company standards.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills for industrial and commercial equipment.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including work with 110V up to 480V systems and motor controls.
- Ability to perform mechanical repairs on forklifts, overhead doors, and dock equipment.
- Ability to perform minor electrical work safely and accurately.
- Proficiency with hand tools and basic installation tools used in field service and repairs.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical or mechanical schematics.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability in the field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with clients and represent the company professionally.
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds with the assistance of lifters or hoists when available.
- Ability to climb ladders, including work at heights up to approximately 40 feet.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license to travel daily to customer sites.
- Ability to wear and use steel-toed shoes as part of required safety gear.
- Comfort working in industrial maintenance environments such as docks and warehouse facilities.
- Experience in field service or service technician roles involving installation, repair, or preventative maintenance.
- Familiarity with welding and fabrication techniques is beneficial.
- Experience working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Education: No formal education requirements for this role.
- Certifications: No specific certifications required; company provides in-house training.

Work Environment
This role is based in industrial maintenance environments, primarily at docks and warehouse facilities, with frequent work outdoors. The position follows a day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. You will travel daily by company truck to customer sites but may not use the truck for personal purposes and are responsible for helping ensure it remains well maintained. The work is physically demanding, involving lifting up to 100 pounds with the help of lifters and hoists, climbing ladders up to approximately 40 feet, and working around large mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment. You will regularly use hand tools, power tools, welding and fabrication equipment, and follow schematics and blueprints for installation and repair tasks. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $49920.00/yr.
