Job Title: EHS Manager
Job Description
The EHS Manager plans, develops, and implements policies and programs related to health, safety, environmental compliance, and security within a large, highly automated manufacturing facility. This role leads and mentors a team, ensures adherence to regulatory requirements, and partners closely with leadership to create a safe, compliant, and efficient workplace.
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and maintain comprehensive health, safety, environmental, and security policies and procedures across the facility.
- Assess team members’ safety training needs and develop, deliver, and track specific training programs for all team members.
- Develop and maintain safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance with EPA, OSHA, and related regulatory requirements, including records management and training documentation.
- Coordinate all aspects of workers’ compensation, including initial response, coordination of medical treatment, and return-to-work programs for injured team members.
- Oversee and maintain the plant security system to protect people, property, and assets.
- Manage fleet vehicles, including safety, compliance, and related documentation.
- Serve as the Environmental Management Representative (EMR) for the company’s ISO program, ensuring ongoing certification and adherence to ISO standards.
- Assist in the development and management of the annual budget for health, safety, security, and environmental activities.
- Collaborate closely with the leadership team to support strategic initiatives and carry out specific EHS and security goals not otherwise listed.
- Support environmental programs related to wastewater, paint systems, and other manufacturing processes to minimize environmental impact and ensure compliance.
- Monitor site safety performance, conduct inspections and audits, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Promote a strong safety culture by engaging team members at all levels and providing visible EHS leadership on the production floor.
Essential Skills
- 5+ years of experience in an EHS management or lead role within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Health and Safety or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and ability to ensure site compliance.
- Experience with environmental health programs, including wastewater and related environmental controls.
- Experience working with ISO standards and acting as an Environmental Management Representative or similar role.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective safety and environmental training programs.
- Proven experience managing workers’ compensation processes and return-to-work programs.
- Ability to develop, implement, and maintain safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage team members at all levels.
- Experience managing site safety and security systems in a manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in automotive manufacturing, particularly in stamping, fabrication, or paint processes.
- Experience in wastewater and paint systems within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with paint systems and automated paint processes.
- Experience with AutoCAD for reviewing or supporting facility, layout, or safety-related drawings.
- Ability to perform or oversee visual inspection activities related to safety, environmental, or quality standards.
- Experience working in a highly automated environment with robots and advanced manufacturing technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with leadership and contribute as part of the broader leadership team.
Work Environment
The role is based in a large automotive stamping facility that includes fabrication and paint processes. The facility produces body parts and sunroof frames and supports a large service program for body parts supplied to North American automotive plants. The environment is highly automated, with extensive use of robots, including automated paint systems, and involves active production areas where machinery, stamping equipment, and paint operations are in use. The EHS Manager will spend time both in office settings for planning, documentation, and reporting, and on the plant floor to observe operations, conduct inspections, and interact with team members. The work environment emphasizes safety, compliance, and collaboration, and offers the opportunity to be part of the leadership team in a complex, modern manufacturing operation.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Springfield, KY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
