Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician I - III

Level I:
Position: Sterile Processing Technician I
Location: Boston, MA
Hours: 40 Hours per week - 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM M - F
Duration: 6 Month Contract to Hire
Compensation: Up to $25.00 per hour
This Sterile Processing Technician I will be responsible
for:
- Receiving, sorting, cleaning and decontaminating soiled reusable instruments, equipment and materials following manufacturer’s instructions. Manually recording items/materials received in department logs. Loading, operating, and emptying cleaning and decontamination equipment such as automatic washers, endoscope reprocessors, cart washer and pasteurizers
- Inspecting, preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments and other materials. Assembling trays and packets of instruments, medical supplies for surgical procedures according to standardized content lists and manufacturers guidelines. Loading and operating sterilizers, programming settings and monitors temperature and other critical readings during run cycle
- May be asked to assume responsibility for leadership in the department in the absence of and/or in conjunction with CPD Manager. Plans, organizes and oversees daily operations. Monitoring work flow and prioritizing work assignments to meet established schedules and clinical requirements. Responding to customer requests and resolving problems as needed
- May be assigned the charge role in the department. Managing the department work environment per established policy and procedures. Insuring safety of all personnel on duty. Prioritizing work production based on changing needs. Assessing, planning and implementing shift activities. Communicating and collaborating with shift personnel, department managers, OR staff and other personnel. Ensuring all required documentation is completed and accurate. Using all available resources to assist with problem solving and decision making. Trouble shooting and problem solving
To qualify, you must have:
- Certification of Sterile/Central Processing
- A high school degree or GED equivalent is required
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience within Sterile Processing is strongly preferred
- A strong knowledge of instrumentation and power surgical instruments
- Strong customer service and communication skills to develop working relationships with staff
- Strong problem solving skills
- The ability to work independently and as a team player
- Flexibility and the willingness to change assignments due to department needs
Level II:
Position: Sterile Processing Technician II
Location: Boston, MA
Hours: 40 Hours per week - 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM M - F
Duration:6 Month Contract to Hire
Compensation: Up to $30.00 per hour
This Sterile Processing Technician will be responsible for:
- Following departmental policies/procedures and transporting carts of instrumentation or medical materials to and from designated areas within the surgical suites or SPD. Restocking OR surgical core with surgical instrumentation sterilized in SPD following departmental policies/procedures and instructions
- Receiving, sorting, cleaning and decontaminating soiled reusable instruments, equipment and materials following manufacturer’s instructions. Manually recording items/materials received in department logs. Loading, operating, and emptying cleaning and decontamination equipment such as automatic washers, endoscope reprocessors, cart washer and pasteurizers
- Inspecting, preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments and other materials. Assembling trays and packets of instruments, medical supplies for surgical procedures according to standardized content lists and manufacturers guidelines. Loading and operating sterilizers, programming settings and monitors temperature and other critical readings during run cycle
- Answering departmental telephones and forwarding calls as needed. Responding to requests for routine factual information, referring more complex inquiries to charge person/supervisor
- Responding to customer requests and resolving problems as needed
To qualify, you must have:
- Certification of Sterile/Central Processing is required
- A high school degree or GED equivalent is required
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience within Sterile Processing is strongly preferred
- A strong knowledge of instrumentation and power surgical instruments
- Strong customer service and communication skills to develop working relationships with staff
- Strong problem solving skills
- The ability to work independently and as a team player
- Flexibility and the willingness to change assignments due to department needs
Level III:
Position: Sterile Processing Technician III
Location: Boston, MA
Hours: 40 Hours per week - Evening Shift (2:30 PM -
11:00 PM), or Night Shift (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Duration: 6 Month Contract to Hire
Compensation: Up to $33 per hour (+$2.75 for
night shift differential)
***Evening and Overnight shifts***
This Sterile Processing Technician III will be responsible for:

Manually recording items/materials received in department logs. Loading, operating, and emptying cleaning and decontamination equipment such as automatic washers, endoscope reprocessors, cart washer and pasteurizers

- CRCST and CER (or must obtain CER within one year of being hired)
- A high school degree or GED equivalent is required
- A minimum of three years experience in Sterile Processing/ Central Processing is required
- Previous experience with Endoscopes is required
- A strong knowledge of instrumentation and power surgical instruments
- Strong customer service and communication skills to develop working relationships with staff
- Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- The ability to work independently and as a team player
- Flexibility and the willingness to change assignments due to department needs
