Phlebotomist II

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Phlebotomist II to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, and maintaining accurate records. You will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, as well as ensuring patient information is updated accurately.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and other specimen collections, such as urine or fecal, with clear and courteous communication.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone inquiries and provide laboratory results.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in blood draw and venipuncture.
• Experience in specimen collection.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
