Sterilization Technician

Job Description

• Receiving, sorting, cleaning and decontaminating soiled reusable instruments, equipment and materials following manufacturer’s instructions.
• Manually recording items/materials received in department logs.
• Loading, operating, and emptying cleaning and decontamination equipment such as automatic washers, endoscope preprocessors, cart washer and pasteurizers
• Inspecting, preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments and other materials.
• Assembling trays and packets of instruments, medical supplies for surgical procedures according to standardized content lists and manufacturers guidelines.
• Loading and operating sterilizers, programming settings and monitors temperature and other critical readings during run cycle.
• Other duties as assigned.

To qualify, you must have:

• Certification of Sterile/Central Processing
• A high school degree or GED equivalent is required
• Minimum of 1 years’ experience within Sterile Processing is strongly preferred.
• A strong knowledge of instrumentation and power surgical instruments
• Strong customer service and communication skills to develop working relationships with staff
• Strong problem solving skills
• The ability to work independently and as a team player
• Flexibility and the willingness to change assignments due to department needs
