Job Description
The Shipping and Receiving Associate works between the office and warehouse floor to ensure accurate, timely, and safe movement of goods. This role handles order fulfillment, shipping documentation, loading and unloading freight, and operating warehouse equipment while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities
- Work between the office and warehouse floor to coordinate shipping and receiving activities and support overall warehouse operations.
- Assemble and fulfill customer orders to be shipped to customers or other divisions, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare customer orders for shipment via common carrier, following all shipping instructions and requirements.
- Schedule, load, and unload LTL freight common carrier orders as requested, ensuring safe and efficient handling.
- Process all paperwork related to shipments, including verifying that merchandise is correct, applying appropriate postage or shipping labels, completing accurate bills of lading (BOL) for LTL shipments, and following specific customer shipping instructions.
- Arrange for shipment insurance when necessary according to customer or company requirements.
- Pack orders into crates and onto pallets, and stage them in the appropriate dock lanes according to truck routes.
- Use RF handheld scanners to pick orders and to restock materials after receipt, maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, and order/cherry pickers to move, load, and unload materials safely.
- Substitute for other warehouse personnel as needed to support overall warehouse productivity and coverage.
- Meet established deadlines for order processing, shipping, and receiving tasks.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in both the warehouse and office spaces.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations.
- Ability to work effectively in both office and warehouse environments and multi-task between administrative and physical tasks.
- Demonstrated experience in shipping, receiving, and general warehouse operations.
- Proficiency in using RF handheld scanners for picking and restocking inventory.
- Experience operating warehouse equipment, specifically stand-up reach trucks and order/cherry pickers.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
- Strong attention to detail to verify correct merchandise, complete shipping paperwork, and follow customer shipping instructions accurately.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attendance and reliability, with a strong commitment to being present and punctual.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed to meet operational demands.
- Critical thinking skills to identify issues, solve problems, and make sound decisions in daily operations.
- Basic computer proficiency to handle shipping documentation and related tasks.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as loading, unloading, packing, and staging pallets and crates.
- Comfort wearing and consistently using required work boots in the warehouse environment.
- Prior experience in a shipping clerk, warehouse associate, or similar logistics role.
- Familiarity with LTL freight processes and completing bills of lading (BOL) for common carrier shipments.
- Experience working with clearly labeled inventory and organized warehouse layouts.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and support colleagues as needed.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with office staff, drivers, and other warehouse personnel.

Work Environment
The role is based in a facility that combines both warehouse and office spaces, allowing you to move between administrative tasks and hands-on work on the warehouse floor. The warehouse is well-organized, with clearly labeled inventory and designated areas for different types of materials to support efficient workflow and quick item location. Safety and cleanliness are priorities, with regular inspections and equipment maintenance to ensure a safe, orderly, and pleasant workplace. You use modern warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, stand-up reach trucks, and order/cherry pickers, as well as RF handheld scanners and computer systems to manage orders and inventory. Office areas feature modern amenities, ergonomic furniture, and up-to-date technology to keep you comfortable and productive. Designated break areas with microwaves, refrigerators, and comfortable seating provide space to rest and recharge during the day. The facility is designed for accessibility with ramps and wide aisles to accommodate movement throughout the building. Work boots are required in the warehouse to support safety and proper protection while performing material handling and equipment operation.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mansfield, MA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
