Job Description
The Shipping Specialist supports warehouse operations by efficiently packaging and coordinating outgoing shipments while ensuring full compliance with all applicable domestic and international regulations. This role requires an experienced, detail-oriented professional who can work both independently and as part of a small, collaborative team in a fast-paced environment. The Shipping Specialist maintains accurate shipping records, verifies shipment accuracy, and helps ensure that all orders reach the correct destinations on time.
Responsibilities
- Package orders independently, ensuring items are securely packed and protected for transit.
- Verify that all shipments are addressed to the correct domestic and international locations and comply with applicable shipping regulations.
- Prepare and manage shipping documents, labels, and related paperwork for outgoing shipments.
- Coordinate shipments with carriers and logistics partners to meet delivery timelines and service expectations.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and documentation for tracking, compliance, and reporting purposes.
- Support shipping and receiving activities, including checking incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with inventory tasks such as cycle counts and basic warehouse inventory tracking.
- Use computers and Microsoft Office applications to update records, track shipments, and communicate with internal teams and external partners.
- Collaborate with a small warehouse team to prioritize daily workload and meet operational goals.
- Follow safety and compliance standards in all shipping, packaging, and warehouse activities.
- Communicate effectively with carriers, customers, and internal departments to resolve shipping issues and provide shipment status updates.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area to support smooth warehouse operations.
Essential Skills
- At least 3 years of experience in a warehouse or shipping environment.
- Proven shipping experience, including shipping and receiving, packing, and coordinating shipments.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and record-keeping abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with carriers, customers, and internal teams.
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with logistics partners and colleagues.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer-based record-keeping.
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities effectively and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to safety and compliance in all shipping and warehouse activities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with inventory tasks such as cycle counts and warehouse inventory management.
- Background in logistics, shipping coordination, and handling shipping documents.
- Strong work ethic and high level of accountability.

Work Environment
The role is based in a clean, well-organized, medium-sized room within a warehouse setting, with both natural lighting and computer workstations. Work involves a mix of standing and sitting throughout the day while performing packing, shipping, and administrative tasks. The Shipping Specialist works closely with a small team of approximately three to four people, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. The space is designed for efficiency and organization, with a strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, and maintaining orderly operations.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of New Bedford, MA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.25 - $36.30/hr.
