Job Title: Software Test Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Software Test Engineer to play a crucial role in validating essential components within our robotic platforms, specifically focusing on embedded compute devices and camera systems. This hands-on position involves writing and executing test plans, working directly with hardware in a lab setting, and ensuring the high-quality performance and reliability of our robotic devices. The role also emphasizes requirements traceability, requiring close collaboration with tools such as DOORS, Jama or Polarion to ensure comprehensive test coverage and alignment with system specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute manual test cases for robotic subsystems such as embedded compute units and camera modules.
  • Operate and validate hardware in a lab environment, ensuring devices perform according to system specifications.
  • Use requirements management tools (DOORS, Jama or Polarion) for traceability, test documentation, and coverage tracking.
  • Document findings and write professional test reports and defect summaries.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and integration teams to debug issues and iterate on solutions.
  • Use basic Python scripting to aid in testing and data collection, with shell scripting as a plus.
  • Contribute to test process improvements and subsystem-level test frameworks.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in manual testing, particularly with embedded systems or hardware-based products.
  • Strong ability to write clear, structured test cases and detailed professional reports.
  • Experience working directly with hardware components such as cameras and embedded compute platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with requirements traceability tools like DOORS, Jama or Polarion.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Comfortable working in active lab environments with moderate noise.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Automation/Scripting experience with Python.
  • Familiarity with shell scripting (Bash or similar) is a plus.

Work Environment

The work environment is an active lab setting that involves direct interaction with hardware and moderate background noise. This position requires an organized individual capable of managing work independently in a fast-paced setting.

Compensation:$130000
