Job Description
We are seeking a qualified Heavy Equipment Operator to lead commercial projects, specializing in site work and water/sewer construction. This role involves building playgrounds and parks, ensuring project success through effective leadership and expertise in heavy equipment operation. This role will be a contract to hire role where you can be promoted to a superintendent once the contract is up. The role will pay $30 - $42 an hour to start. We are able to interview as early as this week and start immediately after onboarding.
Responsibilities
- Source and calculate on-site bulk materials.
- Forecast and ensure materials and equipment availability for project phases.
- Operate all heavy equipment, verifying grades.
- Maintain proper upkeep of on-site equipment.
- Open and close project sites daily and conduct daily safety meetings.
- Read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and specifications.
- Communicate effectively with subcontractors and project managers.
- Advise and maintain project schedules under the direction of the Project Manager.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols on-site.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in construction and general labor.
- Site work and heavy equipment operation expertise.
- Ability to lead crews of 2 or more.
- Experience managing subcontractors.
- Blueprint reading skills.
- 3-5 years of experience with underground utility and concrete flatwork.
- 3-5 years of experience operating heavy equipment such as mid-size excavators, front loaders, dozers, and skid steers.
- Valid Driver’s License and DOT medical certificate.
- Hoisting License (Minimum 2A, 1C).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- OSHA 10 certification.

Work Environment
This position operates within commercial job sites in an outdoor construction environment. This role will have you going between Worcester and Boston.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shrewsbury, MA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
