Job Title: Assistant Plumbing Supervisor
Job Description
The Assistant Plumbing Supervisor plans, assigns, and inspects the work of technicians, maintenance mechanics, and plumbers responsible for maintaining and repairing plumbing equipment across the Homewood Campus. This campus consists of approximately 50 buildings, each with independent HVAC and building automation systems critical to the educational and research mission.
Responsibilities
- Schedule, coordinate, and supervise the installation and maintenance of HVAC and plumbing components on a large campus.
- Develop, maintain, and improve the preventive maintenance program for plumbing systems, air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating equipment.
- Work closely with other maintenance and trades personnel to determine and coordinate repair and modification needs.
- Apply basic principles and practices of employee supervision and participate in the training and development of employees.
- Work efficiently with building automation systems and procure supplies and materials needed for daily operations.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and provide quality customer service.
- Make decisions regarding hiring, evaluation, promotion, and termination of employees.
- Review plans for future buildings and inspect new buildings to ensure compatibility with existing HVAC and plumbing codes.
- Prepare labor and material estimates and evaluate subordinate personnel.
- Ensure budgeting guidelines are met and assist in the preparation of capital and operations budgets.
- Prepare and maintain various records and reports, including employee accident reports.
- Coordinate HVAC/Plumbing outages when required and research new operational methods, techniques, and equipment.
- Assist with the preparation of specifications for purchasing HVAC equipment and manage complex installations and repairs.
- Assist in capital planning for long-term HVAC system upgrades or replacements.
- Produce written documents and use personal computers for reports and spreadsheets.
- Interpret policies to assigned personnel, enforce safety regulations, and maintain a safe work environment.
- Troubleshoot technical problems within HVAC and control systems and assist with maintaining steam and chilled water metering systems.
- Proactively identify and resolve problems early and adhere to bargaining unit contract rules.
- Utilize timekeeping systems for accurate reporting and be available for overtime and emergency calls (24/7).

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- 10 years of HVAC experience
- 5 years of supervisory experience
- Experience with Building Automation and Energy Management systems
- Prior knowledge of CMMS systems
- Experience in a union environment preferred
- Valid driver's license

Work Environment
The position is based in a facilities shop environment, requiring attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to respond to emergency situations. The role may require overtime and being on-call for emergencies.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baltimore, MD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.
