Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Industrial Electrician to support our food and beverage production facility. This role focuses on maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems for high-speed packaging lines, processing equipment, and automated systems. Expertise in PLCs, three-phase motors, and compliance with food safety standards is essential to ensure uninterrupted production and adherence to regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems for food and beverage processing and packaging equipment.
- Troubleshoot and program PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens) for automated production lines.
- Maintain and repair three-phase motors, conveyors, mixers, and other critical machinery.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with FDA, USDA, and food safety regulations.
- Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and maintain product quality.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.
- Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to optimize equipment performance.
- Document all maintenance activities and maintain accurate records for audits.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in Electrical Technology preferred.
- Experience: 3–5 years as an industrial electrician in food and beverage manufacturing or similar regulated environment.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of PLCs, motor controls, and automation systems.
- Familiarity with food-grade equipment and sanitary design principles.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues quickly.
- Other Requirements:
- Understanding of HACCP, GMP, and food safety compliance.
- Ability to work in cold/hot environments and around wet processes.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces or elevated areas.
- Comfortable working in a food production environment with exposure to noise, moisture, and temperature variations.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cheverly, MD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $34.35 - $35.50/hr.
