Job Description
The Shipping and Receiving Associate works in a warehouse environment performing general labor, production, and inventory control duties. This role focuses on shipping and receiving materials and finished products, safely loading and unloading trucks, and accurately tracking inventory using a Warehouse Management System (WMS) and RF scanners. The position requires regular lifting of up to 50 pounds and close collaboration with warehouse and production teams.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily shipping and receiving of materials and finished products in a warehouse setting.
- Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently using appropriate equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Use a Warehouse Management System (WMS) and RF scanner to accurately track, locate, and manage inventory.
- Carry out general warehouse duties, including picking, order picking, palletizing, and staging products for shipment.
- Handle inventory control activities such as cycle counts, inventory management, and warehouse inventory organization.
- Prepare and manage required shipping documentation, including bills of lading.
- Operate sit-down forklifts and pallet jacks to move, stack, and organize materials and finished goods.
- Support production bottling and palletizing operations as needed to meet daily and weekly output goals.
- Unload incoming materials and verify quantities and product details against shipping documents.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in the warehouse and production bottling areas.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when operating material handling equipment and performing physical tasks.
- Demonstrate consistent reliability by arriving on time, maintaining strong attendance, and completing assigned tasks each shift.
- Collaborate with drivers, warehouse staff, and office personnel to ensure smooth supply chain and on-time deliveries.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of hands-on shipping and receiving experience with stable job tenure.
- Proven reliability with strong attendance and punctuality every day.
- Experience working in a warehouse, manufacturing, production, or general labor environment.
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and RF scanners for inventory tracking.
- Practical knowledge of inventory control, including inventory management, cycle counts, and warehouse inventory organization.
- Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving processes, including loading, unloading, and order picking.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and sit-down forklifts.
- Familiarity with shipping documentation, including bills of lading.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling inventory and orders.
- Ability to work a full-time schedule on a 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. shift, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing, bottling, or production environments.
- Experience in supply chain or logistics operations.
- Experience working with a fleet-based operation involving trucks, tractors, tankers, or trailers.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced warehouse and production bottling area.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a small warehouse team.

Work Environment
The workplace is a warehouse and production facility with approximately 25–30 employees, including 8–10 office staff in sales and operations, several drivers, and warehouse personnel. The site operates its own fleet of trucks, including tractors, tankers for wine and alcohol, a trailer, and a 28-foot straight truck. The role is based primarily in the production bottling and palletizing area and in the warehouse, where a new bonded warehouse is being constructed to expand storage capacity. The standard shift runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed. Team members receive a 30-minute lunch break and two 15-minute breaks during the day. The environment is hands-on, physically active, and equipment-driven, with regular use of forklifts, pallet jacks, RF scanners, and warehouse inventory systems.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of COCKEYSVILLE, MD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
