Job Description
The Flavorist plays a crucial role in supporting the Research & Development, Quality Control, and Production departments by creating and producing finished flavors. This position also provides organoleptic support to Quality Control and applies flavors to finished products.
Responsibilities
- Possess a strong understanding of FEMA materials.
- Create a multitude of different flavor profiles.
- Understand commercialization and create flavors that are commercially viable.
- Provide assistance with organoleptic assessments of raw materials and finished flavors.
- Replicate flavor profiles for customer projects.
- Collaborate with Flavor Technicians and share knowledge in the art of flavor development.
- Provide analytical and organoleptic support to the Quality Control department.
- Maintain and clean the laboratory.
- Rotate raw materials and finished products approaching the end of shelf life.
- Participate in smoking and sensory panels.
- Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or an equivalent area.
- 4–7 years of experience working in a lab environment creating flavors, preferably in the tobacco, food, or perfume industry.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a results-oriented, challenging environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven organizational skills.
- Experience in flavor chemistry, research and development, and quality control.
- Knowledge of organoleptic assessments, food flavoring, and tobacco flavoring.
- Method validation experience.
The R&D team will be moving into a brand new lab. The company offers great benefits, including fully paid health, dental, and vision insurance. Work-life balance is highly valued, with the plant closing for the last two weeks of the year while employees still receive their salaries. Regular presence in the office is required, and some travel may be necessary.

This is a Permanent position based out of ELDERSBURG, MD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $135000.00/yr.
