Job Title: Manufacturing TechnicianJob Description

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician plays a crucial role in enhancing production output by implementing physical improvements on the manufacturing floor. This hands-on technical position involves building and modifying carts, tools, jigs, fixtures, and workstations. The technician will perform time studies, support first article and pilot builds, and help translate engineering concepts into efficient and repeatable production processes. Working closely with Manufacturing Engineers, the technician will focus on practical execution, waste elimination, and production flow.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineers with first article and pilot builds.
  • Identify, document, and communicate issues encountered during builds, such as fit-up issues, unclear instructions, and tooling gaps.
  • Validate assembly sequence, tooling effectiveness, and standard work before release to production.
  • Build, modify, and repair carts, racks, tools, jigs, fixtures, and workstations to support manufacturing processes.
  • Execute physical improvements that reduce waste related to motion, handling, waiting, rework, and transportation.
  • Assist with layout changes, material flow improvements, and workstation setup.
  • Support 5S implementation by creating shadow boards, tool holders, visual controls, and standardized work areas.
  • Work directly with Manufacturing Engineers to support new and existing processes.
  • Assist in developing, testing, and implementing tooling and fixtures designed by Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Provide practical, hands-on feedback on manufacturability, ergonomics, safety, and ease of use.
  • Support process trials, pilot runs, and engineering changes on the shop floor.
  • Support production teams by troubleshooting assembly, tooling, and process-related issues.
  • Help implement corrective actions for recurring issues and assist with root cause investigations.
  • Serve as a technical bridge between engineering and production during process changes.
  • Assist with setup, adjustment, and maintenance of tooling, fixtures, and light equipment.
  • Verify that tools and fixtures are safe, functional, and properly maintained.
  • Support safe work practices and contribute to risk assessments for new or modified processes.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in manufacturing processes, repairing, and fabricating.
  • Ability to support production through hands-on technical execution.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot assembly, tooling, and process-related issues.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in a high-growth manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work closely with engineers to turn concepts into practical solutions.

Work Environment

Work in a brand new facility with a team of 200-250 people at full capacity. The environment requires wearing steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and long sleeves or cut-resistant sleeves. Expect to stand or walk for long periods and occasionally lift up to 25–50 lbs. The manufacturing floor may expose you to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures. Work on a rotating 2-2-3 shift from 6 am to 6 pm, with initial training on a standard Monday-Friday schedule.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hanover, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $55000.00/hr.
