Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Staff Accountant to oversee all aspects of Accounts Payable for both U.S. and international operations, ensuring payments are accurate and on time. This role involves working closely with the CFO to review and improve accounting processes, manage international banking tasks, and contribute to job costing and financial reporting for multiple ongoing projects.
Responsibilities
- Oversee Accounts Payable processes for U.S. and international operations.
- Collaborate with the CFO to enhance accounting procedures.
- Manage international banking tasks, including setting up and maintaining overseas accounts in compliance with relevant regulations.
- Contribute to job costing and prepare financial reports for ongoing projects.
- Assist with Accounts Receivable functions, including billing, collections, and account reconciliation.
- Ensure compliance with federal contract guidelines, GAAP, and international standards.
- Participate in monthly and yearly book closures, including reconciliations and report preparation.
- Seek opportunities to update accounting systems and improve data management efficiency.
- Partner with project managers and leadership to provide financial insights and accurate cost information.
- Proficiency in Accounts Payable and operational, hands-on experience.
- Experience in a project-based environment such as construction, engineering, architecture, or manufacturing.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, invoice processing, and Microsoft Excel.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is a plus.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within construction or general contracting.
- Experience with Sage accounting software, particularly Sage 300 Construction & Real Estate or Sage 100 Contractor.
- Strong knowledge of job costing, project-based accounting, and managing finances across multiple entities.
- Proven experience in international banking, including opening and managing overseas accounts.
- Demonstrated success in improving accounting processes and updating financial systems.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
The work environment is flexible, with office hours from 7am to 6pm. Most team members work from 8am to 4pm or 9am to 5pm. The team consists of the CFO, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll departments. This role offers an opportunity to play a key role in modernizing accounting operations and driving efficiency across international and domestic projects. The work is meaningful, supporting complex federal and overseas construction missions.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hyattsville, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $45.67/hr.
