Machine Operator

We are seeking dedicated machine operators responsible for the efficient operation of concrete block machines. The role involves starting and stopping the machine, ensuring the blocks remain aligned, daily cleaning of the machine, and program changes.

• Operate the concrete block machine and produce concrete products from raw materials to the yard stage.
• Inspect the quality of products according to prescribed standards, focusing on height, color, shape, and corners.
• Monitor the operation of various equipment, including the block machine, batcher, mixer, conveyors, and more, to detect and report malfunctions.
• Perform minor repairs and adjustments on the block machine and associated equipment.
• Maintain a clean and hazard-free work area.
• Change molds as required.
• Start up and shut down the block machine, maintain production records, and communicate changes in product size and color.
• Conduct daily preventative maintenance checklists and submit maintenance requests as needed.

• Prior experience in machine operation.
• Basic troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to perform labor duties.
• Must be alert to stop the conveyor if blocks fall out of line.
• Must have steel-toed boots.

• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Flexibility to work varied hours as needed.
• Reliable transportation.
• Excellent attendance record.

The work environment is a dusty, dirty plant setting that manufactures stone pavers and landscaping blocks. It is a loud facility, requiring the use of hard hats, ear plugs, and masks. The plant experiences temperature extremes, being hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Overtime work is common, and candidates must be comfortable with these conditions. The plant operates Monday through Friday from 4:00 pm to 3:30 am.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Odenton, MD.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
