Job Title: Research Associate

Job Description

The Research Associate/Associate Scientist will be an integral part of the Vivarium Operations / Animal Modeling team. The role involves performing a variety of assays, tests, and studies to support animal studies conducted in the Vivarium. The candidate will manage all aspects of mammalian cell culture, including media and buffer preparation, culture initiation, propagation, and cryopreservation of cells, including primary human cells from commercial and patient sources.



Responsibilities
  • Prepare dosing formulations for in-vivo and in-vitro studies.
  • Assess target antigen expression by flow cytometry on various in-vitro and ex vivo samples.
  • Optimize and validate ELISA-based assays.
  • Support the development of new scientific methods and technologies for project advancement.
  • Report results to supervisor and share with the appropriate investigator.
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental data and protocols in laboratory notebooks in accordance with standard operating procedures.

Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in flow cytometry, animal modeling, and mammalian cell culture.
  • Experience with IVIS Imaging and multicolor flow cytometry.
  • Strong skills in animal handling, tissue culture, culture initiation, propagation, and cell cryopreservation.
  • Familiarity with injection techniques and ELISA.
  • Proficient in using GraphPad Prism.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science, Biology, or related science field.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with basic data analysis programs such as Microsoft Office and GraphPad Prism.
  • Experience with small animal handling, injections, and IVIS imaging is preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment is a lab setting, fully onsite with office desk work days. The team is mid-sized, collaborative, and flexible, with no micromanagement. The position offers the opportunity to learn cell biology and some immunology in a cutting-edge research environment. The role operates on a 1st shift with a flexible start time between 8-9am, with no weekend or overtime expected.
