Job Title: Recipient Services Representative
Job Description
The Recipient Services Representative will ensure that all Benefit Recipients receive extraordinary service when making changes to pensions. This role requires accurate and timely entry of all necessary change, correction, stoppage, or resumption information. The representative will communicate sympathetically and efficiently with recipients via phone or mail.
Responsibilities
- Process direct deposit, tax information, change of address, and verification requests.
- Manage pensioner status forms and bank advice.
- Handle expiration reports, confirm queues, stop/void, and reissue check requests.
- Process recipient death certificates, pop-ups, and return to trade.
- Remove and restore benefit recipients to pension rolls.
- Address overpayments and coordinate with the accounting department for returned pension checks.
- Prepare correspondence related to collection processes for electronic filing.
- Communicate with pension recipients and banks to establish repayment agreements and send collection letters.
- Update pension benefit information using internet resources and Accurint.
- Prepare documentation for fraud or forgery claims.
- Maintain records of pension overpayments in Excel.
- Assist in recouping federal income tax overpayments and in responding to 1099 inquiries.
- Create binbooks and custom letters related to these functions.

Work Environment
The work schedule is 40 hours per week initially, with a transition to a 35-hour work week upon permanent hire. The role offers a flexible schedule, with working hours from 7:30-8:30 AM to 3 or 4 PM. Upon conversion, the representative will have the option to telework, working onsite three days and remotely two days per week. A reliable internet connection and a quiet work environment at home are necessary for remote work. The office environment is supportive, with a focus on team collaboration and professional development.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockville, MD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
