What We Do/Project
This position is within Media Technology and Operations, in a software team that works on automating workflows, building easy-to-use toolsets, and solving problems for operations in and around content flows and media systems. Our team supports Live Sports, CNN, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, inventory ingestion, and more.
We are actively seeking a motivated Back-end Developer to enhance our dynamic team. The ideal candidate is a team player who works well with others but is also able to work independently. You excel at creating and improving scalable services in line with innovations.
As a Back-end Developer, your role could include building services, REST APIs, and state aware workflows largely in cloud environments. We love collaborating with teammates on new app designs, partnering with front-end developers, Quality Analysts, Business Analysts, and other team members to combine work into a cohesive product, and improving existing services.
Job Responsibilities / Typical Day in the Role
• Develop and maintain applications using cloud architecture working in Jira and Git
• Ability to build from user stories and be active in technical design
• Build efficient, scalable, secure, and observable applications
• Able to take and give feedback in team meetings and code review
• Build and maintain highly scalable services and workflows
• Be proactive and responsive in addressing technical issues
Must Have Skills / Requirements
1) Solid experience with Python as a primary language
a. 5+ years of experience; Additional experience with one or more of the following: Node, Rust, C#
2) Understanding of SQL and document database development
a. 5+ years of experience. Experience with MongoDB
3) Ability to take initiative
a. Ability to quickly pick up training, ask questions when unsure, and action items without being asked. The team is looking for an open communicator who isn't afraid to ask for assistance.
Nice to Have Skills / Preferred Requirements
1) Experience with Temporal or comparable code-as-workflow engine
Soft Skills:
1) Capable of self-deployments in a well-defined container pipeline
2) Firm understanding of cloud infrastructure
3) Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
Technology Requirements:
1) Solid experience with Python as a primary language and one or more of the following: Node, Rust, C#
2) Understanding of SQL and document database development
3) Experience with workflow engines (SDVI Rally, Airflow, Step Functions, Argo Workflows, Jenkins, etc.)
Education / Certifications
1) None required.
