Job Title: Medical Assistant


Job Description

The medical assistant will collaborate with healthcare providers to triage and room patients, take vitals, and accurately enter information into the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system. This role involves interacting with pediatric patients aged 0-21 years, often accompanied by their parents. The position requires performing blood pressure checks using a blood pressure cuff, as well as conducting finger sticks and heel sticks for infants. A passion for working in the pediatric field is essential.


Responsibilities

  • Triaging and rooming pediatric patients.
  • Taking and recording vital signs.
  • Entering patient information into the EMR.
  • Performing blood pressure checks, finger sticks, and heel sticks.
  • Providing care to approximately 50-60 patients per day.
  • Ensuring excellent customer service and patient interaction.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a pediatric, primary care, or specialty office.
  • Knowledge of pediatric vaccine protocols.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced primary care environment.
  • Active CPR certification.
  • Proficiency in using EHR systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant is preferred (CMA, RMA, CCMA).
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Willingness to learn age-appropriate immunizations, point of care testing, and common pediatric treatments.
  • Familiarity with COVID, strep, flu, RSV testing, and ear lavage procedures.

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with 1 to 2 Saturdays a month from 7:45 am to 12:00 pm. If working on Saturday, the employee will receive a half-day off during the week. The role requires flexibility to work at both the Waldorf and Upper Marlboro offices. Reliable transportation is necessary, and comfort with working with children is essential due to the high patient volume of 50-60 patients per day. The office locations are at 3450 Old Washington Rd Suite 100, Waldorf, MD, and 9692 Pennsylvania Ave., Upper Marlboro, MD.
