Job Title: Composite TechnicianJob Description

As a Composite Technician, you will be responsible for manufacturing parts using filament winding equipment. This role involves utilizing various techniques to modify glass, carbon, and other fibers to create parts and structures according to project specifications. You will develop a hands-on working knowledge of winding machines, resin mixing equipment, hoists, extractors, curing ovens, and any other ancillary equipment required in the winding process.

Responsibilities
  • Produce products per standard procedures, process specifications, and other work instructions.
  • Set-up and tear down production machinery, validate progress of the machine’s work, and adjust as necessary.
  • Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines.
  • Position parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
  • Assemble parts to match product specifications either by hand or with tools (hand tools and power tools).
  • Work closely with other team members to accomplish individual and team member training goals, communicating any concerns.
Essential Skills
  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing operations, machine shop, or aerospace and defense industry.
  • Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools.
  • Ability to accurately use measuring devices such as pi-tape, calipers, and air pressure gauges.
  • Ability to operate power tools including hand saws, drill guns, and band saws.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read detailed instructions, blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Fanuc controls is a plus.
  • Knowledge of composite materials and quality assurance processes.
  • Experience in quality inspection and general production.

Work Environment

The work environment is a very clean, medium-sized manufacturing setting with a team of around 40 people, which is expected to grow next year. The work hours are from 6am to 2:30pm with 15-20% overtime every week. Typically, there is daily overtime with occasional work on Saturdays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Westminster, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
