Job Title: Survey Crew Member
Job DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated and hard-working individual to join our team as a Survey Crew Member. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting our highway design project and contribute to the smooth operation of survey tasks. Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily with field coordinators, project managers, and other office staff.
- Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and work safely.
- Supervise all members of the survey crew.
- Operate independently as a one-person crew when necessary.
- Upload and download data collectors daily.
- Care for and charge survey instrumentation regularly.
- Advance knowledge with upgrades in technology and equipment.
- Assist the party chief by carrying survey equipment and supplies to job sites.
- Clear vegetation obstructing the line of sight.
- Collect survey data under the guidance of the party chief.
- Report to the Party Chief / Field Coordinator and assist in executing survey tasks in accordance with contract documents and company policy.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in running a crew using robotic total stations and GPS.
- Experience with Trimble or other survey equipment, including GPS, robotics, total stations, levels, and data collectors.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Experience or familiarity with AutoCAD is preferred but not required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- No prior experience is required, but a willingness to learn and follow directions is essential.
- Familiarity with Totalstation, Microstation, AutoCAD, land surveying, and data collection is a plus.
- Experience with SHA is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong focus on quality of data collected.
Work Environment
This position involves working outdoors in diverse weather conditions, with the opportunity to work overtime if desired. During inclement weather, you will still receive a 40-hour workweek while working in the office, where you can assist and learn new skills such as CAD. You will report to the Party Chief / Field Coordinator and collaborate closely with them to ensure survey tasks are completed safely and effectively.
