Job Title: Solidworks Design Engineer


Job Description

We are seeking a Solidworks Design Engineer to design large industrial equipment for cereal plants, food processing facilities, and pharmaceutical laboratories using Solidworks 3D. This role requires versatility, as you will be tasked with designing equipment, communicating with customers, diagnosing and solving equipment issues, and handling procurement and quoting. The work varies daily, involving projects like designing conveyors or models for customers. You'll have your own office space and need to adapt to different project demands.


Responsibilities

  • Design large industrial equipment using Solidworks 3D.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to ensure equipment functionality.
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment issues, including redesigning if necessary.
  • Handle quoting, material procurement, and vendor pricing.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously with agility.
  • Interact with shop floor, vendors, and customers throughout project completion.

Essential Skills

  • Experience designing industrial equipment using Solidworks 3D (5+ years).
  • Background in the Food and Beverage industry.
  • Proficiency in FEA/stress analysis.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot directly with customers.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience in diverse plant roles, including quoting and vendor communication.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Sheet Metal Experience.

Work Environment

The work environment is laid-back yet fast-paced, allowing interaction with skilled tradespeople and involvement in projects from design to completion. You'll work in a blue-collar setting that requires comfort with informal language. Benefits include 2 weeks PTO, 6 paid holidays, and access to Udemy after 60 days. The engineer will take over from an experienced individual who is retiring and is expected to grow with the company long-term. The company serves various industries including food processing, pharmaceutical plants, paper mills, foundries, and automotive plants, with expertise in Sheet Metal, Millwright, Ironwork, and Electrical services.
