Job Title: Payments Product Owner


Job Description

The Payments Product Owner plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the strategy for payment processes and services across our Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) platforms. This role is responsible for driving seamless, secure, and efficient payment experiences that align with business goals and customer expectations.


Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the vision, strategy, and roadmap for payment products, ensuring alignment with broader company objectives and customer needs.
  • Partner with IT, D2C, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Marketing, and Customer Support to gather input, align priorities, and deliver integrated solutions.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments (e.g., PCI DSS, GDPR) to inform strategy and identify innovation opportunities.
  • Track key payment KPIs, identify areas for improvement, and implement enhancements to reduce costs, improve reliability, and elevate the user experience.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Receivable and Consumer Services to troubleshoot and maintain system integrity.
  • Ensure all payment solutions meet security and compliance standards and work closely with internal teams to proactively manage risks.
  • Translate business needs into clear, actionable user stories and functional requirements.
  • Prioritize and maintain a well-groomed product backlog to support agile development.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on payments or financial technology.
  • Deep understanding of payment processing, including various payment methods such as credit cards, debit cards, ACH, mobile wallets, payment gateways, and fraud prevention techniques.
  • Strong understanding of online payment gateways, billing systems, and eCommerce platforms.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting to identify trends and improve collection efficiency.
  • Experience implementing different payment methods in an eCommerce environment including credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Amex), PayPal, Apple Pay, Acima, and Affirm.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Business, Finance) preferred.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
  • Familiarity with product management tools like Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience working with QuickLizard.

Work Environment

It operates on agile methodologies requiring regular interaction with product management tools. The role involves staying updated with industry trends and regulatory standards, ensuring a dynamic and responsive work setting.
