NVH Engineer - Powertrain
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated NVH Engineer specializing in powertrain to join our dynamic team. You will provide essential support in powerplant dynamometer testing operations across three test cells: Driveline, Exhaust, and Spin-Torsional/Motorsports. Your expertise will guide the development and execution of standard and custom tests and contribute to resolving operational issues and optimizing system performance.
Responsibilities
- Provide powerplant dynamometer testing operations support for three test cells: Driveline, Exhaust, and Spin-Torsional/Motorsports.
- Write standard and custom tests using RE, AVL, and Horiba dynamometer control software.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving dynamometer operational issues.
- Modify custom dynamometer wiring harnesses as needed.
- Tune dynamometer PID control loops to optimize system performance.
- Update dynamometer cell capabilities to support advanced testing needs.
- Act as a training resource for all technologists in the PT NVH department.
- Update current test procedures and help develop new test procedures.
- Resolve compatibility/interface issues between RE, ATI, LMS, CAN, etc., for OKTT debug.
- Acquire high voltage (HV) level 2B certification.
- Provide vehicle testing operations support and act as the go-to person for CAN Bus/DBC data collection issues.
- Resolve compatibility/interface issues between PTdiag, ATI, LMS, CAN, etc., for OKTT debug.
- Provide calibration OKTT coverage and develop/perform specialized non-standard tests such as vehicle combustion.
- Participate in daily test operations status meetings and support test schedule priorities.
- Collaborate with the department dynamometer operations engineer to improve operational efficiency and mitigate cell operational issues.
Essential Skills
- Demonstrated experience in engine calibration/testing.
- 5+ years of experience working with powerplant dynamometer cell controls and GUIs.
- In-depth understanding of powertrain operation (ICE, Hybrid, BEV), NVH testing and procedures.
- Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, schematic, and problem-solving skills.
- Competence with multiple calibration and CAN tools (e.g., ATI, PTdiag, ETAS).
- Understanding and application of NVH data acquisition and analysis tools (e.g., LMS, HEAD, B&K).
- Working knowledge of various systems such as ELMS, WORQ, GPIRS, Team Center, TRS/Driver’s Aid.
- Proficient computer skills and familiarity with MS Office tools.
