Job Title: Industrial Engineer


Job Description

We are seeking an Industrial Engineer to contribute to the development and installation of direct and indirect labor standards and methods. This role involves tracking labor, ensuring efficient manpower utilization, and achieving line balancing for the 26.5MY Launch.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct job ergonomics evaluations.
  • Analyze problem process constraints and perform equipment cycle time analysis.
  • Recommend the most efficient distribution of manpower and review daily employee manpower.
  • Prepare or direct the preparation of cost estimates for new or revised methods and standards.
  • Review proposed changes in plant layout, processes, material handling, routing, etc.
  • Analyze production and non-production operations to identify areas requiring study and develop new or improved methods and standards.
  • Conduct time and motion/MODAPTS studies and review employee proposals and suggestions.
  • Develop cycle line layouts for current and future models using ACAD.
  • Lead job methodization and process allocations.
  • Coordinate engineering changes and planning, conduct value stream mapping and process audits.
  • Develop cost-saving project proposals and write projects as required.
  • Interface with Production Supervision and the UAW to settle job disputes.
  • Assist production in planning labor allocations for mix and line speed changes.

Essential Skills

  • Industrial engineering expertise.
  • Experience in process flow and manufacturing engineering.
  • Launch support experience, particularly with a full launch cycle.
  • 18–24+ months of relevant experience.
  • Line balancing proficiency.
  • Final assembly experience or experience in a plant with a continuously flowing assembly line.
  • MODAPTS knowledge.
  • Understanding of UAW relations.
  • Cost savings analysis capabilities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to analyze and resolve issues quickly through root cause analysis.
  • Skill set for job placement flexibility and rotation across various plant positions.
  • Strong customer orientation and commitment to upholding plant processes.
  • Ability to execute and achieve results while managing multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to engage in union relations and be a team player.
  • Capability to serve as a confident technical mentor to the production organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with MODAPTS is desirable, certification not required.

Work Environment

Core work hours are 6am to 2:30pm, with potential for additional hours depending on the phase of the launch, particularly during the build phase. The work environment is dynamic, with opportunities to rotate between various positions within the plant, including Production or Quality.
