Job Title: Mechanical Designer

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer with over 5 years of experience in the field. The ideal candidate should have a positive, can-do attitude and be a valued team player. This role requires excellent communication skills to convey ideas effectively through verbal, written, and technical forms such as sketching, CAD modeling, and drawings.

• Focus primarily on CAD modeling and design.
• Engage in ideation processes.
• Prepare and manage the bill of materials.
• Design concepts and ideas involving surfacing, sheet metal, solid modeling, and drafting.
• Maintain document control.
• Conduct analysis and prototyping.

• Proficient in problem solving and decision making using various methods and techniques for technical issues.
• Ability to conceptualize ideas both 2-dimensionally and 3-dimensionally.
• Basic understanding of sheet metal and plastic design, including rapid prototyping methods like 3D printing.
• Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems such as Windchill.
• Ability to apply appropriate standards and protocols in the design/engineering process.
• Competent in creating CAD models and drawings to document the mechanical aspects of a design.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for working in a multi-disciplined team environment.
• Strong administrative skills to manage multiple assignments and priorities.
• Effective communication skills for conveying technical information.

• Proficiency with PTC Creo Parametric and Windchill.
• Experience in surfacing, sheet metal, and solid modeling.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
• Strong technical communication skills.
• A relevant degree or equivalent qualification is required.

This position is 100% on-site, with standard 40-hour work weeks. The role includes benefits such as 2 weeks of paid time off (PTO) and 6 paid holidays.

This is a Contract position based out of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
