Job Title: Design Engineer
Job DescriptionThe Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of valves and valve systems to meet the needs of customers in applications such as medical, instrumentation, distribution, and food products. This role requires an individual who can work independently and confidently, handling a variety of engineering project challenges with a sense of urgency. The Design Engineer will lead new product development projects and represent the Engineering Department to customers and internal production teams. Occasional travel will be required to meet program objectives.
Responsibilities
- Translate customer and marketing requirements into product design drawings and documents.
- Submit designs and supporting documents for patents when appropriate.
- Ensure new designs meet objectives for product performance, durability, manufacturability, quality, and compliance with standards such as UL, REACH, RoHS, IPC, safety, cost, and timing.
- Develop and supply prototypes.
- Create and implement testing plans for validation and durability.
- Conduct validation and durability testing.
- Write final test reports to demonstrate product performance and durability.
- Conduct cross-functional meetings for design reviews and product and process concept planning.
- Collaborate with the project manager and team members to develop project budgets.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD design using SolidWorks or Solid Edge.
- Proficiency in DFMEA, GD&T, and Design of Experiments (DOE).
- Product design experience, specifically in fluid power, CFD, and process engineering.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in fluid power components design.
- Experience in process engineering.
- CFD modeling skills.
Work Environment
The Design Engineer will report to the Engineering Supervisor over Design Engineering and work within a team of four other design engineers. The typical working hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with some flexibility. The role involves working mainly within assembly. The team offers a collaborative environment where individuals can learn extensively and develop their skillsets.
