Job Description
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team, working within the composite cell of our test division. In this role, you will be integral to the repair and overhaul of aircraft engine components, focusing on composite work such as fan cases, fan blades, and cold section components. You will collaborate cross cross-functional teams to drive process improvement and ensure high-quality outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret engine manuals and technical data to develop methods and processes for repairing and overhauling complex aircraft engine components.
- Write process plans and work instructions for execution by production mechanics.
- Plan sequences of operations, estimate required time, and create schedules.
- Evaluate out-of-tolerance or unknown conditions on aircraft engine components.
- Investigate, establish, and implement requirements for equipment, tooling, and materials, including make-or-buy decisions and facility layout for new or revised products.
- Investigate and troubleshoot process issues.
- Provide technical support to operations.
- Consult with external engineering entities to resolve hardware or process issues.
- Coordinate multiple manufacturing and automation projects.
- Provide technical support and guidance to suppliers performing repair work.
- Analyze process data to support continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
- A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
- Experience translating technical information into process plans and work instructions for hourly personnel
- Comprehensive knowledge of composites manufacturing processes and bonded structures applications for gas turbines or other high-temperature applications.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and experience with continuous improvement programs such as 6S.
- Aerospace Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) experience.
- Experience repairing composite materials.
- Experience in automation and robotic applications preferred.
Compensation:$52.88
