This position supports natural gas construction teams in the field, working at a construction site within a 1/2 hour from Royal Oak in a CE trailer. The role involves direct collaboration with union construction teams for the collection of GIS data for mapping purposes. The position offers a long-term contract with the potential to transition to a direct role after two years. The schedule consists of four 10-hour days from Monday to Thursday, with optional overtime on Friday and Saturday. The role requires onsite work with no remote option.
Responsibilities- Collect as-installed gas asset information using GPS antennas and leverage GIS applications for data management.
- Support construction teams and assist in complex distribution plastic gas main projects.
- Coordinate with Engineering personnel assigned to large-scale construction projects.
- Participate in meetings and demonstrations, including Operating Reviews and pre-construction meetings.
- Develop and maintain documentation processes associated with GIS and GPS technology implementation.
- Meet deadlines by working additional hours as necessary.
- Technical understanding of construction, design, and record development of natural gas distribution systems.
- Ability to coordinate project needs and priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in communication and presentation skills.
- Experience with GPS antenna hardware and software.
- Understanding of Surveying Control practices.
- Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software, including ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, and Field Maps.
- Familiarity with natural gas distribution systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMs).
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of three years of related work experience.
- Associate degree with a minimum of six years of related work experience.
- High School Diploma with a minimum of ten years of applicable work experience.
- Utility Locator experience.
- Excavation Safety knowledge, including Ladder Safety.
The work environment includes a construction trailer at the natural gas construction site or working outside in the elements at the construction site. The position involves carrying specific equipment such as ladders, GPS antennas, iPads, laptops, rod extensions, paint, and personal protective equipment. Vehicles will be used on construction sites both on and off-road.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.
