Job Title: Fabricator I - Skilled Machine & Equipment OperationsJob Description

The Fabricator I plays a critical role in producing high-quality fabricated parts using various fabrication equipment. This position operates under general supervision and requires a commitment to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Produce high-quality fabricated parts using various fabrication equipment.
  • Read and understand procedures, safety sheets, instructions, and policies in English.
  • Carry out verbal instructions and communicate verbally in English.
  • Adhere to safety-related issues, including good housekeeping and ergonomics practices.
  • Participate in workplace organization and follow training procedures, including cross-training and teamwork.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and a willingness to speak up when issues arise.
  • Learn new processes, systems, and equipment.
  • Document work, participate in team concepts, and perform basic preventative maintenance.
  • Collaborate in a diverse setting, participate in cross-functional teams, and engage in conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrate motivation to grow, learn, and progress to the next level in skills.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to operate basic fabrication equipment.
  • Skills in documentation, team concepts, and basic preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to meet work schedule and overtime requirements, including weekends.
  • Ability to lift/carry 10-50 lbs frequently and occasionally lift/carry 50-75 lbs.
  • Prolonged stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, sitting, standing, and/or crawling as appropriate.
  • Coordination of hands and/or eye/hand/foot.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and retain specific knowledge.
  • Use of safety glasses, steel toe shoes, and hearing protection in designated areas.
  • Use of proper respirators and other equipment as necessary in paint booth areas.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Preferred experience in manufacturing.
  • Quality training, incoming part quality, gage plan completion, and proper part loading.

Work Environment

The work environment includes exposure to loud noises and requires the operation of machinery. Safety glasses, steel toe shoes, and hearing protection are mandatory in designated areas. Proper respirators and other equipment are necessary in paint booth areas. The role involves physical demands such as lifting, carrying, stooping, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Portage, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.10 - $28.50/hr.
