Job Description
As a Paint Process Engineer, you will design and implement innovative paint application solutions that meet the expectations of our customers. You will be responsible for performing process engineering analysis and feasibility studies of paint automation equipment to facilitate customer quotations and address business requirements in the field.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement robot processes and spray application parameters for installation in end-user facilities.
- Install, launch, and optimize robot programs at customer sites.
- Develop robot programs offline using PaintPRO.
- Perform process system verification testing during modular builds.
- Use offline simulation tools for system design or advanced robot programming.
- Conduct spray testing in laboratories to determine optimal application settings.
- Provide project and customer troubleshooting and support for existing installations.
- Perform process engineering analysis and feasibility studies for paint automation equipment.
- Offer advanced process engineering support for complex applications and field troubleshooting.
- Optimize integration of application equipment, including bell atomizers and fluid delivery systems.
- Ensure optimal installation and configuration of equipment during modular builds and field installations.
- Provide training to engineers and customers on application equipment and processes.
- Verify and ensure application equipment performance as expected.
- Recommend application equipment improvements to enhance performance and reduce costs.
- Record and interpret paint quality data such as film builds, defects, and color/quality.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a plant environment.
- Experience with CAD or Controls Engineering.
- Willingness and ability to travel 60%-80% of the time.
- Mechanical aptitude to work on robots.
- Experience working onsite with customers under tight deadlines.
- Possession of a valid passport.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (BSME or BSEE) preferred.
- Co-Op experience in plant/manufacturing/production environments.
- Previous military experience is beneficial.
- Experience with simulation, virtual commissioning, or offline programming.
- Previous experience with robotics is advantageous.
The role requires travel between 60%-80% across North America, primarily to GM plants. Travel involves being away from home for extended periods, with the possibility of returning home every other weekend. The position demands flexibility to work off-shift hours during installations, with average weekly hours ranging from 50 to 70 hours depending on location and workload. The team consists of 12 members, predominantly Process Engineers, focused on designing and implementing process-driven paint solutions for robotic applications. Work hours onsite average 40 hours per week, with increased hours when traveling for installations.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $52.00/hr.
