Operator Sterling Heights 17+ CALS GAUGES

We are seeking an enthusiastic Operator Trainee who is eager to learn and develop skills in operating, setting up, and editing programs on brake presses with tonnage ranging from 100 to 350. The role involves working on short-run projects, typically consisting of 50-100 parts, and requires the ability to assist and eventually manage changeovers, setups, and tool changes independently. The role involves bending and forming materials, requiring attention to detail, creativity, and curiosity. Candidates must be able to measure accurately and conduct quality checks during the bending process, making necessary adjustments to tolerances if needed.

• Train and develop skills in operating brake presses with varying tonnage.
• Assist with and eventually manage changeovers, setups, and tool changes.
• Bend and form materials with precision, ensuring quality and accuracy.
• Measure and conduct quality checks during the bending process.
• Adjust machine tolerances when necessary to achieve desired outcomes.

• Experience in machine operating, particularly with aluminum, metal, and steel.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Proficient in using calipers and gauges.
• Familiarity with making machine adjustments.
• Comfortable working alongside a lead brake press operator.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a collaborative environment.

• Previous experience with brake press operations is a plus.

Work in a smaller, organized shop located in Sterling Heights. The environment is somewhat dirty but decently lit, equipped with six machines and a tool room.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sterling Heights, MI.

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.00/hr.
