Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Designer to support the conversion of legacy electrical documentation into intelligent, standardized EPLAN projects. This role focuses on using EPLAN Electric P8, including Pro Panel and Smart Wiring, to convert customer- or vendor-supplied PDF electrical drawings into fully functional EPLAN schematics and 3D panel layouts. The ideal candidate has strong electrical drafting knowledge, experience with control panel design, and a passion for data accuracy and standardization.
Responsibilities
- Convert existing PDF electrical schematics into fully functional EPLAN Electric P8 projects.
- Recreate and standardize electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts based on PDF source files.
- Utilize EPLAN Pro Panel to develop accurate 3D control panel layouts, including component placement, DIN rails, wiring ducts, and enclosure layouts.
- Apply EPLAN Smart Wiring functions to support wire routing, connection logic, and manufacturing-ready wiring documentation.
- Ensure all converted designs follow internal standards, customer specifications, and applicable electrical codes.
- Verify accuracy of converted drawings, including device tags, wire numbers, terminal assignments, and cross-references.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and automation teams to resolve discrepancies between PDF source files and required EPLAN functionality.
- Maintain organized project structures, libraries, and macros within EPLAN.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to documentation quality, efficiency, and standardization.
- 3+ years of experience with EPLAN Electric P8.
- 3+ years of experience with Pro Panel.
- 3+ years of experience with Smart Wiring.
- Ability to convert PDF documents into E-Plan.
- Strong electrical drafting knowledge.
- Experience with control panel design.
- Experience with Power Distribution Panels (PDP) is a plus.
This position is located within the controls department, where you will collaborate with a team of electrical designers and controls engineers. The work environment is team-based, encouraging collaboration and support across various projects and roles.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sterling Heights, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.
